I have been making art as far back as I can remember (my mother says I was born with a crayon in each hand!). In high school, I was introduced to the watercolor medium and worked almost exclusively with it for many years, favoring floral compositions and landscapes. Over the years I have experimented with many different techniques and mediums, and currently I am happily combining painting, collage, silk painting, polymer clay, assemblage and whatever else sparks my creativity.
My subject matter varies; it is sometimes whimsical and humorous, sometimes thought-provoking and inspirational. Knowing that there are always new techniques to explore….rules to be broken…discoveries to be made, makes me excited to create everyday.
I love “upcycling”: reclaiming old canvases, plaques, picture frames, lamps, etc., and creating entirely new “objects d’arte.” I love to encourage the God‐given creativity that is hidden deep inside each of us, young or old. Whether it’s introducing folks to new mediums, such as polymer clay or hand painting on silk, it’s always magical to see the delight and excitement when an individual (who thought she had no artistic talent) creates something beautiful. That’s why I enjoy doing workshops and art.
More recently, I’ve been learning how to create patterns for surface design using my original art. Hopefully you’ll be seeing my designs on some products in the marketplace in the near future! I’m looking forward to licensing to manufacturers of apparel, fabric, stationery and gift wrap, wallpaper, whatever!
